Trang

One of Thailand's undiscovered hideaways, Trang has secluded beaches coupled with tropical islands and clear water. Quiet and very unassuming, Trang, much like Krabi and Phang Nga, has a stunning coastline hiding some of Thailand's finest white sandy beaches and many unexplored and uninhabited islands. Lagoons, forest, waterfalls and hidden caves alternate around Trang creating an eclectic mix of delights to discover.

Things to do and see

Koh Libong - This is the largest of Trang's islands and is part of the Petra Islands group. The East of the island and the Juhoi Cape provide a great stopover for migratory birds during November and December. These include Terns, waders, curlews and godwits among many others and as such is a twitchers paradise. Offshore you'll find amazing sea creatures such as green turtles. The island is dominated by a large mountain which rises to over 300 metres above the floor and is seen for miles around. The inhabitants follow a traditional way of life here living mainly through fishing and rubber-tapping.

Koh Sukorn - This tiny island is only 8km long and 4km wide, with about 2,500 living in four villages. Extremely quiet and relaxing, here you'll be given a warm welcome by the very friendly locals. As well as chilling on lovely beaches you can go walking or take a mountain bike tour.

Trang Don't Miss

Ko Kradan - This is Trang's most beautiful island and is a designated National Park with a small part used for private rubber and coconut plantations. It has one of the finest soft white sand beaches to be found anywhere. The water off the coast of Ko Kradan plays host to weddings for hundreds of people who tie the knot here each year. The events here traditionally start in Trang town centre with couples taking part in a "Khan Maak" or traditional parade followed by a high-speed speedboat procession to the underwater ceremony location.

Nightlife

There isn't too much on offer in Trang for the nightlife seekers like there is in other more commercial parts of Thailand.

Trang has a typical small local scene of bars, karaoke bars and clubs mainly for the locals. However, you can still have a great night out here for all the family and enjoy a little more relaxing evening.
